Feeling blue? We all know that being depressed is hard on our health, but there's another reason to seek treatment sooner rather than later. According to new research, the risk of stroke is increased by depression in women.

Study Shows That Depression Increases Risk of Stroke

The study looked at more than 80,00 women over six years and found that a history of depression increased the risk of stroke in post-menopausal women by 29 percent. Women who were on antidepressants had a 39 percent higher risk of stroke, although researchers were quick to point out that the depression itself was linked to stroke — not use of antidepressants. If you're feeling down for more than just a few days, be sure to see your doctor for help. Also be sure to follow a healthy lifestyle plan that includes a nutritious diet. Both have been shown to help beat depression!
