Tropical Depression Irwin is expected to weaken as it swirls over the Pacific off Mexico's coast. Irwin's maximum sustained winds early Thursday are near 35 mph (55 kph). The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami says the depression is forecast to become a remnant low within 24 hours. Irwin is centered about 230 miles (365 kilometers) west-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico, and is moving northeast near 13 mph (20 kph). The depression's forecast track shows it curving away from Mexico in the next few days and then heading farther out over the Pacific.
