Depression in children

Posted in : Symptoms

(added few years ago!)

I read with interest the front- page article on children’s depression (8/4, A1, “Child’s gloom could be serious; Chronic depression can be a problem even for preschoolers, a new study indicates”).  As a former children/youth worker with a sociology major.

I was left with many unanswered questions I would have hoped the reporter would have asked, for they would help to understand the problem. What is the percentage breakdown relating to the following circumstances - Two-parent home or one-parent home?, Economic situation of the family?, Number of siblings?, Day care or stay-at-home parent?, It would be helpful if those issues could be clarified.
